About Ryan Ontiveros

Game Designer. Developer. Creator.

I am currently a senior at the University of California, Irvine studying Game Design and Interactive Media at the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences. I am passionate about creating interactive experiences that blend creativity, technology, and player engagement, and I am eager to contribute my skills to innovative projects in the game industry.

What sets me apart as a game designer is my interest in exploring the connections between video games, history, and education. I believe that games have the potential to be transformative—developing analytical thinking, improving reaction time, encouraging teamwork, and fostering creativity, leadership, and problem-solving, all while providing meaningful and engaging experiences.

I am seeking opportunities in game design and related fields, aiming to contribute to projects that push the boundaries of interactive entertainment and education. My goal is to leverage my skills and passion to create impactful and meaningful gaming experiences.

In Fall 2026, I will be attending the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts to pursue a Master of Science in Game Design and Development as a Lucas Scholar, where I plan to further refine my skills in interactive storytelling, systems design, and production.

Some of my favorite games include League of Legends, 2XKO, Helldivers, Elden Ring, and GTFO—titles that inspire my love for deep mechanics, strong art direction, and cooperative gameplay.

Outside of development, I enjoy spending time at concerts (especially Green Day, Linkin Park, and The Offspring), visiting amusement parks like Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm, watching horror movies, and relaxing with my dog, Brutus.

"Ryan's innovative approach to game design, combined with his passion for education, makes him a standout candidate. His portfolio showcases a unique ability to create engaging and transformative experiences."
